Already have
Snippets
and looking to take it to the next level? Here are some tips and tricks that make for some extra fun games.
First, if you haven't yet, take a look at the full
instructions.
Snippets is super easy to learn,
so it should only take a minute or two!
If you're new to Snippets, it may take a few rounds get in a good mindset for
making words from small snippets! In each game, there are 100 easy, medium, and hard cards,
with each deck coming in a particular order. We recommend you start with the easy deck, and, rather than shuffling or choosing
a random card, begin with the top card and proceed from top to bottom through the deck.
As it gets easier for you, try moving on to the medium and hard decks.
If you're having trouble thinking of words in a particular round, jump start your brain by simply adding different endings to words you already thought of.
If you wrote down CRAFT for the snippet CRA, for example, try CRAFTED, CRAFTS, CRAFTY, and CRAFTING. Then add
different word parts at the beginning, like SPACECRAFT or AIRCRAFT or RECRAFT. Then see if you can try a mixture of both, like with SPACECRAFTS or AIRCRAFTS or RECRAFTED!
Some snippets may also be ripe for rhyming. Having trouble with ING? Well, if you've already got WING, get your poet's hat on and expand out into
SING, DING, BRING, THING, and BLING. Start adding some endings to those and now you're really business!
For yet other snippets, you may have to start geting fancy. Keep some common word structures in mind, like double letters before certain endings,
and recognize where they may come in handy. For example, for SSI, you could
run with words like PASSING, KISSING, or MESSIER.
Once you've got the basics down, there are a definitely few strategies you could use to try start really knocking it out of the park.
If the current round's snippet feels pretty easy to you, try ignoring the Brainiac and Creativity bonuses
and just go for broke and write down as many words as you can in a minute. That way, the points you earn for
the words you have left have a shot at surpassing any bonus points your friends get.
Or, if the round's snippet seems harder, you could try the opposite by focusing your efforts on just one of the bonuses and coming up with a
few very unique or very long words. You could even try take this to its extreme, with one very unique, very long word,
in the hopes that the bonuses will take you to the end.
We hope these tips and tricks help make for some really fun games! Happy snipping!
